Choose one of the following topics and teach it to the class. Your presentation should include:
A learning activity for the students.
A visual aid such as a poster, PowerPoint, Prezi, YouTube video, etc.
A bibliography of your research sources in APA format.
Think carefully about what material I might choose to put on your unit test.
Topic Choices:
First come, first serve. I will not be doubling up on topics:
Describe the situation of women in Canada in the years before the First World War. How did women influence Canadian society in the early 1900s? - Louis

Write an essay using the correct format (see general resources for information about how to write and essay).
Use APA format for your bibliography and citations.
Chapter 3: Who are you talking about?
Create a poster that highlights these cultural phenomenon. Emphasize the visual over the written (one or two short blurbs will be enough). Your goal is to show me how these people, or groups, changed Canadian culture forever. Show us why we should care about this sort of "stuff".
The Flapper - Louis
Wilfrid "Wop" May - Jack
The Group of Seven - William
The Famous Five and the Person's Case
William Lyon Mackenzie King - Bin
Chapter 4: Show and Tell
My understanding of the great depression (1929-1939) is very limited to Canada and the United States; therefore, you can help me fill in the gaps.
Choose a country and / or region.
Create a slide show (pictures/political cartoons/newspaper articles) that show us how the depression effected your chosen area.
Describe what the pictures are showing and what caused those conditions.
Was this the status quo at the time? Were these conditions caused by or made worse by the stock market crash? How had conditions changed? How badly? Does the country you're researching have a name for this period of history?
You have free choice of country. Think about it carefully and choose a country that you can find information about - don't just default to your home country only to realize that you can't find enough to talk about.
No two people can choose the same country / region. First come, first served.
Chapter 5: Answer me this...
Answer one of the following questions for the class. You may present your answer in any way you deem appropriate.
What common conditions led to totalitarianism in Italy, Germany, and Spain? - Bin
Why was the League of Nations ineffective in preventing nationalistic aggression in other parts of the world? Jack
What uninteded consequences do you think were caused by women being a major part of the war effort?
Why did the Japanese attack the U.S. navy at Pearl Harbor? How did this attack change the course of the war? - Louis
What strategic benefit was there to controlling the Mediterranean? Why would the Axis have needed to control this area? - William
